\nKen says “To really know a region you have to spend time absorbing its mood until you begin to relate to its mysterious and ancient rhythms”, says Ken. “I often have to return to a location again and again until I’ve captured the true spirit of the place. In that time spent waiting for the right moment, I have the opportunity to truly connect with the land. It’s amazing what you can learn about a place by just sitting in silence there. My great-grandfather built this shearing shed back in the late 1800’s and it gave me great pride to discover his creation. Seeing his handiwork gave me insight into a man I had never known and provided a link to my past. Natural oils from innumerable fleeces have enhanced the natural texture and colour of the wood. Shearing season is over and the shed lays resting, but an eerie presence remains. It’s as if the shed awaits the return of its heroes and the burst of life that comes with their competitive energy.”
